i spotted these barriers at the avenues as you enter to carrefour and wondered what took them so long! looking at people pushing their trolleys through the isles and between the fashion shops was not a good sight, but i guess from now on this will come to an end.
nevertheless, with the kind of traffic the avenues is attracting, people will still park away from carrefour and probably carry all their grocery bags back to their cars now that the trolleys are stuck behind bars! no a better sight i guess.
that's what happens when you build something so big without properly studying parking solutions - a multi-level parking would have been ideal for that matter.

Agree or set up a cart system in the parking lots where they return the carts to regain a 100 fil fee which you initally pay to get a cart from Carefour, that would have been more organized. Kuwaitis are lazy and don't understand how to set up systems that is the issue all over Kuwait.
What about 360mall !! That mall is more worst in seeing people pushing geant carts infront of Jimmy choo, gucci and catier.
Agree with Macky. At least at carrefour you have direct access to the parking while in 360 they have to go up with their carts.. Both should find a way to lead only to the parking for supermarket shoppers, and make parking space available for them.
Are you kidding me?!!,What about people who DONT have cars?!.Taxis don't come in the parking lot! and i believe this is a stupid thing that they have done, What do people do if they have heavy shopping
Agree on the system bit! but i don't think it's about lazinessA kuwaiti friend once told me that they don't like to spend money on something that has no tangible return on investment. for instance, they invest in buildings construction, but investing in underground parking would be considered as a futile investment because people can park outside the buildings.. same for the avenues, we will rent the place out, bring a well known supermarket to bring footfall and to hell with people, if they can't find a place to park, they'll manage.
People who don't have cars can go to supermarkets outside malls there are plenty of them
They might want to put metal detectors in them!
especially when crazy young guys buy knives from carrefour to stab people at the mall..
Yeah right; parking's a pickle in the Avenues. The only effective antidote for this is pay and park over weekends and public holidays. Will be good riddance- all those idle people loafing around just because it doesn't cost anything to stay parked. As a matter of fact the malls consortium in Kuwait should jointly decide to charge for parking weekends and holidays all across Kuwait- will create a new vertical and revenue generation stream for the mall developer as well as paradoxically, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
the avenues will never put money on parking, if they will, the crowds will shift to some other malls.
Like congestion charging they can charge differentially over peak and off peak hours Thrusday through Saturdays and all public holidays. It will, of course, affect footfalls but mostly, the rifraff footfalls- who needs them anyway.
I doubt if people would prefer to make other malls their preferred shopping destination since what the Avenues is singularly able to offfer people in Kuwait no other mall is able to do.
Plus, why does everyone forget parking in most Dubai malls is not free?! And Dubai last I noticed still remained the barometer for gauging how well we are doing on any given front.
am all for it..
I would like to inform everyone that Carrefour has STOPPED using those annoying barriers!! :DD
thank you ahmed for the update!
