KD 6.5 for this??!!

Sunday, August 26th, 2012

i was at salhia complex last thursday so i decided to stop by cafe royal for breafkast, though i had decided long time ago to boycott that place because of bad service - nevertheless, i wanted to check if things have improved, so i ordered the american breakfast without bacon - i was so shocked by the size of that portion, it felt as if i was having a kid's meal! i dropped the orange juice on my pants, so i basically had half the glass, but of course no one rushed to help me clean up, the waiters where simply watching!!

the worst thing was the price, kd 6.5 for this breakfast!! i swear mcdonald's breakfast is like 10 times better and may be 6 times less the price!!

anyways, i can confirm that the service is still as bad as it were a few months back and certainly not worth the bill!

Café Royal’s deadly combo: reducing portions + increasing prices

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

i am increasingly hearing bad reviews about café royal, salhia complex - the other day i was there with a group of friends and we ordered our usual, hamour with rice - we were surprised by 2 factors, the tiny portions and the major increase in price (around 40%).

yesterday i was there with another friend and we ordered chicken shawarma, the portions were also drastically smaller than before, and the price much higher - but that's not all, the quality of the food has gone bad, the bread was not fresh, they even removed the brown baguette from the bread basket and reduced the size of the bread slices.

as for the service, it was extremely bad - we waited 20 minutes for an ice cream and a fruit salad - apparently they hired a new staff but as usual, it seems they put them to service without the right training and the customers are paying the price.

not sure i'm going there again, reducing portions and increasing prices is a deadly combo - too bad, i used to love that place.

Whatchamacallit – French attack!

Monday, November 29th, 2010

so you have a shop and you want to give it a name, you obviously go for a french name to give it prestige, someone recommends "les petits parisiens" or small frenchies and you find it sexy and easy to recall - now the work starts and someone recommends to start building brand recognition by filling that space on top of the window shop with a temporary sign and you also find that very sexy - guess what, that's not a sexy sign, at all!! oh and by the way, in arabic that reads "why are my boots parisian?" hope this is not yet another french bakery... you don't like our food? we'll give you the boot!
