i read this tragic story on mailonline about this 90-year-old saudi man who paid $17,000 as dowry for some irresponsible parents to wed their 15-year-old daughter! yes, 90 VS 15!!
this story reminded me of benjamin button.. imagine that when the girl was born the guy was 75!! they probably have learned the same things at the same time, like trying to stay clean, eat properly, speak clearly, walk carefully, count their teeth.. a bit like benjamin and daisy when they were kids..
the poor girl barricaded herself in a room and escaped the very night of her wedding and grandpa is sewing suing the parents to get his dowry back!
is this some kind of a trade? how can her parents accept such a deal? beats me...
They needed the money to buy black market pork?

On the other hand,,,, instead of the girl running away, she would have w8ted for couple of years, the old man would have died any way.. She would have been a Rich young widow.
@Hello, this scenario will not work. Do you think this 15 year old girl is the only wife?!?! probably a man like him has dozen other wives and dozens children. in Sharia wife doesn’t get much when his husband dies.

It’s sickening that there is a demand for child brides from the Indian subcontinent in the GCC particularly, in Saudi where each year men come down shopping to Hyderabad and Miraj for their virgin brides. Closer to home, I see avuncular Western expat gents doing a similar sort of thing with their rent-a-Lolitas, and pretending to live happily ever after in Mahboula, Fintas and Fahaheel.

Mail order brides as a social marketing phenomenon is nothing new and is on every level as vicious as human traffiking. Hell no, it is human traffiking.
Funny thing is among the countries with poorest track records in human traffiking are some ultra conservative puritanical countries which makes cracking this problem that much more difficult.

I know of some women that prefer being husbanded by men 20 – 30 years their senior. Now if it is entirely consensual I see no reason why society should mandate against such unions though it is tough on children being born out of such consummations.But if it's parents, pimps or touts literally selling vulmerable girls or women to such wolves then they ought to be castrated.

Just FYI.. But its "Suing" not "Sewing".. You 'Sue' people by taking them to court if they have wronged you.. Where as, you 'Sew' things together (like stitching).. Now, i highly doubt that the drandpa is 'sewing' her mom and dad together.. Would be pretty funny though! :)

It is a telling statement on the grinding state of poverty that compels such people to offer their daughters as sex merchandise to old mostly, Saudi men. Whose fault is this? The buyer's, the seller's or the authorities in both the port of exit and entry who let it pass. Or society's at large….Indian society of which these girls are part of, where there are summits of affluenza with people rich enough to bathe in Veuve Clicquot champagne morning afternoon and night but who choose to remain oblivious to the pain and suffering of the other half or Saudi society's with its laissez faire attitude toward such marital abominations. These are no marriages but society endorsed rapes by foreign pedophiles. Disgusting!

Lest some of your readers think otherwise.. as a social phenomenon this is not an exclusive preserve of Saudi men to get themselves child brides. Though predominantly, a Saudi predilection in the past there have been instances of Qataris, Emaaratis and Kuwaitis found doing this. I guess, it will be mostly the tribals and men from the lower income groups (LIG) in Kuwait standing guilty as accused. Whereas in Saudi they mainly look to Indian brides, in Kuwait they may look to Fillipina and Indonesian domestic helper as brides for super seniors.
Now you won't find any MPs making noise over such crimes against humanity so as not to hurt their constituencies.
