Wataniya Airways staff get first class treatment!

wataniya airways' brand vision says: "always create an extraordinary experience that is our guest's choice"

but this time around, what was really extraordinary is the termination of the airline's 300 employees without even giving them a choice! the employees didn't get their march salaries and the situation is very ambiguous when it comes to their indemnities and notice period - though they heard unofficial information that nothing will be paid, the staff got the below email from inhuman resources:

"Dear Staff, As per the directions from the Board of Directors we regret to inform you that your employment with the company is terminated effective 7th April 2011. Please find attached the scan copy of your Notice of End of Employment Contract. This has been a very difficult time for us all, we would be glad to assist you for any further inquiries or clarification required. Our HR- Hot line No is 24379900 and Ext nos. 154 and 176 will be available from 9am to 4pm (Sunday to Thursday) starting 10th April 2011. In addition, we need your assistance in updating your present (personal) addresses and contact information. Please send an email to hrd@wataniyaairways.com with your Kuwait residential addresses & contact numbers."

what kind of monsters are these people and how can they tell their employees to contact the hot-line of the company should they have any questions? hello???? of course they have questions, here's a sample i heard from my friends at wataniya airways:

- how are we gonna pay our rents?

- how are we gonna feed our kids?

- how are we gonna pay school fees?

- how are we gonna make ends meet till june when school ends?

- do you have another job for us at the group level?

- oh and here's one more i heard, do you even have a heart?

well these people have thousands of questions and all what wataniya airways could offer them is a hot-line!! this simply reads we're giving you the boot and we don't even care to see you!! i have never ever seen such a horrible and inhuman treatment from a company especially from one that once claimed "it's a pleasure" - what an extraordinary treatment!

      so that no one gets confused, "one way ticket home" is a metaphor, foreign staff wanting to return home didn't get any tickets for that matter!!

      I try to be as positve as i can,but after all, i am just human to.My current situation are as follows: I cant pay rent anymore,so i have to leave my apartment on the 15 April 2011.Were i will go,as i only have 5 kd left on my name.These days i go around friends,with the hope they will give me something to eat.Every day just become harder and harder.Wataniya took me as a expat,and i thought,sponsers usualy take care, after their employees,but not in this case,it seems.Then i dont even no, how i ever will get back to my home country.I wonder if they no what they doing to people lifes, that been loyal to them.How can these people go to bed at night,and not even have a contious.I hope this letter will be reach ,at least, one director or share holder,to see whats truly happening.As for the saying in life “the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer”.I leave u with these words:I hope these people will change there minds soon,and do whats TRUTHFULLY writly hours,if not , all i can say,one day after this life they will account for there action,and trust me no money in the world will be enough ……Be strong every one.God Bless.

      HOW JUST TELL ME HOW THESE PEOPLE CAN SLEEP THEY R NOT SCARED FROM GOD? THERE IS NO WAY THEY DONT HAVE MONEY THESE PEOPLE WHO SPEND 10-15 000 KD JUST FOR ONE NIGHT PARTY IN BEY….MANAGMENT WHO USE TO GO GULFING EVERY WEEKEND TO EUROPE ……WHO WAS 5 DAYS A WEEK OUT OF THE COUNTRY JUST SPENDING AROUND AND NOW THEY DONT HAVE MONEY????       How come media dont help us? There are some articles in newspaper but it is not enough ! Media and government should support us and help us in this matter …. ! Someone who can inform TV, magazines, newspapers ? Even abroad … ! It should be big shame for them !!! Perhaps … they dont care ………..

      No, thats not true what you are saying.
      Salary that was paid on 27/2/2011 was the basic salary for February with the flight pay from January.
      Know what you are talking about. All incorrect information is confusing for everyone.
      If you don't know what you are talking about, its better to remain silent…..

      I'm so sorry to hear that Chris :( It's a real shame how these people think that we are their toys. unfortunatly money makes them think that they can buy people and throw them when they're bored…But i'm sure of one thing..what goes around will surely come back around.. and who kills by the sword will perish by the sword. So have faith and know that somehow the situation will get better. So keep your chin up and your positive thoughts Bless you.

      Yes, dear Guest, but don't you think that we deserve our basic for March + flying hours from February and March??? Plus our rent for the last 2 months? That is the money we worked for!!! I see it's very easy for you to correct people, but you should also do some counting !!!

      Talking about bonuses…The Brits got a huge one while we were getting the boot and they say that they don't have money This is BULLLLLLLL….Of course they don't have any because they took OURS!!! Why hide behind our noses and be afraid to say the truth? They're nothing but crooks

      Shame on wataniya!! But how can we expect them to be successful in human relations, when they were just losers in their own business plans.
      Staff rights should be protected by the Government.

      i share my sympathy to wataniya airways employees and just wondered why no one contacted sho2oon ? also there are people who bought airline tickets just before two days of the closing and didnt use, the only thing was just send claims to bad email which does not confirm receiving.
      is there a possibility to contact consumer protection or it is useless? and body have feedback?

      i am not employee of wataniya airlines but i just tried the hot line and extensions , both are useless .
      when we were reserving the tickets they were not answering but i just gave it a try

      ok a very simple question. Any of these employees tried going to social affairs? file a case against the company? it takes a while to settle it, but it DOES work. At least do your part, although I've been there when I was at HumanSoft they kicked me just like that, no reason, nothing, and NO PAYMENT UNTIL YOU TRANSFER YOUR RESIDENCE stuff.. yeah but the employee has to go to the social affairs and do his/her part. and you guys are a group of 300 people! Damn! That'll make a huge case at the ministry of social affairs.

      I agree! As per the new laws they have to pay 3 months salary! Even if its basic salary, it has to be paid! I'm a huge fan of Wataniya Airways and I still am, but its because of the staff and how well we were treated! Now the thing is I dont know why social services doesn't force them to pay, and they haven't announced bankruptcy so that means that social services would be able to get money out of them!

      I do hope everyone finds a job or a resolution to help them move forward! Alah ekoon fee 3oon el kil!
